The Air-conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) of the United States is an international standard setter in the HVAC industry, and also one of the most authoritative certification bodies in the world. It is the highest authority in the industry. To achieve the world's goal of energy conservation and carbon reduction, AHRI has always been actively promoting industry standards and policies on carbon neutrality. Midea, a trailblazer and promoter of green transformation and innovation in global air conditioning industry, and also a long-term partner of AHRI in green development, has been continuously working with overseas industrial associations at various levels to jointly promote the industrial transformation towards higher energy efficiency. This year, Midea successfully obtained the world's first high-efficiency R454B refrigerant certification issued by AHRI. It is another milestone achievement of Midea in practicing its green strategy. On November 1, Louis Zhao, President of Midea RAC Division, and Stephen Yurek, President and CEO of AHRI, had a conversation on the strategic planning of key industrial prospects such as energy efficiency upgrading, development and application of environmentally friendly new refrigerants, and decarbonization and electrification of buildings. They reached a consensus on further deepening cooperation in high-efficiency and green transformation of the air conditioning industry in North American and the rest of the world by making good use of technical innovations for the purposes of "peak carbon dioxide emissions" and "carbon neutrality".

Against the backdrop of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, Midea takes the lead in developing new and efficient R454B environmentally friendly refrigerants and obtains the world's first AHRI certification in response to the aggravated environmental problems caused by the use of high global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants. President Stephen Yurek acknowledged Midea's technological advantages in the refrigerants and spoke highly of its successful application. He also hoped that Midea could continue to play a leading and exemplary role in technological innovation and advance of the industry. AHRI has been long committed to promoting the development and iteration of refrigerants with lower GWP values, thus facilitating application of more environmentally friendly refrigerants in major electrical products.

Midea has always been aligning its product development against the most rigid environmental standards. It was granted several prizes including the "Low-carbon Environmental Leadership Award" by the United Nations Environment Programme and the "Outstanding Contribution Award for Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection" by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization for its development, application and promotion of R290 refrigerant. At this meeting, Midea and AHRI held a strategic discussion on how to further promote low-GWP environmental protection refrigerants to the market and how to build a global architecture of green energy in advance. It reveals a new chapter of Midea's contribution to global energy conservation and emission reduction.

While fulfilling its corporate responsibilities, Midea also continuously consolidates its basic work and provides consumers with trustworthy products and services. At the meeting with AHRI, Midea was granted the "Award for 100% Pass of Sampling Inspection in Three Consecutive Years" for product categories of cooling-and-heating AC, cooling-only AC and PTHP (packaged terminal heat pump). This is one more time that Midea obtained this internationally authoritative recognition and endorsement for its product quality and performance. This certification program represents the highest inspection standard in the industry and has been highly recognized by consumers, regulators, specification setters, property owners and contractors. From manufacturing of product, to manufacturing of quality, and then to manufacturing of intelligence, Midea has always been giving full play to its leading brand effect and guiding the high-quality development of the industry.

By consumer needs-oriented technological innovation and product application, Midea will continue to closely cooperate with global mainstream industry associations and core institutions, deeply participate in and lead the formulation of standards for environmental protection, and constantly develop and upgrade environmentally friendly and energy-efficient products, so as to provide all consumers with a better, comfortable, intelligent and low-carbon life. Midea will also strive to play an exemplary role in promoting the global green transmission of the industry for lower carbon emission.
